From Our Own Correspondent Rome, Oct. 2.
A group of Ukrainian Catholics carried two yellow placards into St. Peter’s Square today shortly before the Pope appeared for the midday blessing, with slogans calling for his recognition of their patriarchate.
This demonstration was preceded by the dispatch of a telegram to the Pope containing the same request, as well as a plea for recognition of their bishops, priests and faithful who were martyred by the Soviet regime fro their faith «as saints of the universal church».
The telegram was sent in the name of «the patriarchal committee of the Ukrainians in Great Britain».
