Dear Mr. Floyd:
Your article about the problems of the Ukrainian Catholic Church shows, that you were onesidedly informed. As a result it offends the Head of the Ukrainian Catholic Church and all dedicated faithful, who have the courage to defend her rights and the very existance.
Pope Paul VI keeps fefusing to recognise Patriarchate of our Church for political and not ecclesiastical reasons. In plain words, Vatican’s ecumenical partners from Moscow demand annihilation of the Ukrainian Catholic Church in the free world; in Ukraine they bloodily suppressed our Church with the help of RGB.
Pro-Moscow Vatican dignitaries found a few collaborators among the Ukrainian bishops, who received their titles and jurusdiction from Vatican. One of them is msgr. A. Hounyak, whose subserviency is explained by ambitious striving for new titles and honors.
Only unity in one patriarchate can save from annihilation Ukrainian Catholic Church, which is scattered on different continents. According to the Decree on Eastern Catholic Churches of the Vatican Council II these Eastern Churches «enjoy the right and are in duty bound to rule themselves» (Art. #4). But Vatican politicians know how to find loopholes or invent them in order to mix in the internal affairs of our Church.
Since your times is quite limited I enclose two of my articles («Death Verdict of a Church» and «The Deaf Ears of the Church Hierarchy»), in which the facts are condensed for the convenience of the readers. Also included is leaflte with the «Excerpts from the address of Bishop Ivan Prasko» and «Short Information about the Events in Rome» (in connection with the Ukrainian pilgrimage in July of 1975).
