DO NOT ALLOW THE HAMMER AND SICKLE TO TAKE THE PLACE OF THE CROSS! FACTS CONCERNING THE CURRENT VISIT OF METROPOLITAN FILARET TO THE U.N.
The current visit of Filaret Denysenko, Metropolitan of Kiev, to the United Nations is just another stratagem of the Soviet Regime. Metropolitan Filaret is staying at the U.N. (October 28-29, 1975) to participate in preliminary conferences leading to the world Conference on Religion and Peace, which is scheduled to be held in Brussels in April 1976. Metropolitan Filaret is here by virtue of his claim to represent the Church in the Soviet Union. He and his entourage, however, are NOT the true representatives of the Church behind the Iron Curtain. They are here under false pretenses. These Soviet Churchmen are in effect spokesmen of the state controlled religious agency in the Soviet Union and, therefore, representatives of the Soviet Government and the Communist Party. Metropolitan Filartet collaborates with the Soviet Regime in its persecution of the members of the SILENT CHURCH OF THE CATACOMBS, the UNDERGROUND CHURCH in the Soviet Union, the only REAL CHURCH behind the Iron Curtain.
Thus, Metropolitan Filaret, does NOT represent the Church; he represents those who persecute it. By sending him and his entourage to the U.N. the Soviet Government is attempting to delude the leaders of the world concerning the true state of Church and religion behind the Iron Curtain.
According to the Russian author, ALEXANDR SOLZHENITSYN, the entire administration of the Russian Orthodox Church, the appointment of priests and bishops (including churchmen who make it easier to deride and destroy the Church), is secretly managed by the Soviet Government. Thus the Russian Orthodox Church today, is a Church dictatorially ruled by atheists and thus an agency of the Soviet Government.
The Society for the Patriarchate in the Ukrainian Catholic Church calls on all people of good will to protest the presence of these SOVIET CHURCHMEN at the U.N. and on American soil. We call on the spiritual and secular leaders of the U.S. and of the World to disassociate themselves from those who are responsible for the tragic plight of millions of Ukrainian Catholics and other believers behind the Iron Curtain, and to demand freedom for the oppressed as a pre-condition to any dialogue.
